Helping your kids in school

Sometimes children have behavior problems at school that can interfere with their learning. We are all familiar with the child who can’t sit still, who has trouble waiting his/her turn or who may have trouble making or keeping friends.

One way to help these children is to work on their behaviors at home. Studies show that children who learn to behave at home carry it over to the school setting. So helping your child to learn to sit nicely at the dinner table, how to wait till you are ready to attend to him/her, and learn to share toys at home can make school time more fun and successful.

PCIT helps parents help their children. As your therapist I can help you learn to respond calmly and consistently thereby shaping the behaviors you want your children to demonstrate.
